“I looked around my home one day and realized the abundance of stuff my kids had—things they hardly used or even cared about,” Megan, co-founder of Love First Ministries, says.

 

“I realized there was a huge need, and many families could benefit from the name-brand and secondhand clothing we already had. When the Lord spoke to me about the heart behind Love First, I knew this was our invitation to be the hands and feet of Jesus.”

What started as a simple desire to share what we had quickly became something much bigger than we imagined. Our story officially began in 2022, but the Lord had been preparing us for years—teaching us compassion, giving us eyes to see the unseen, and forming a team ready to love families in practical, meaningful ways.

Since then, Love First has grown from a small idea in a living room into a full ministry serving families across South Central Wisconsin and resourcing missionaries around the world. Our clothing closet has transformed into a warm, home-like experience where families can shop with dignity and joy. Our placement packs, crisis response efforts, and global missionary support have expanded far beyond what we thought possible.

But what matters most is the heart behind it all. We love from the inside out. We show the behind-the-scenes moments—sorting donations, laughing with our team, organizing outfits, praying over families—because this is the heartbeat of Love First: neighbors loving neighbors, serving together, giving together, showing up together.

 

We all know what it feels like to be judged first.
